Toronto Fashion Week SS12 Calla Hayens

Calla Hayens was born in Toronto, but currently based in Paris. Previously, she worked with Olivier Theyskens at Nina Ricci. It was a girl’s lemonade 50’s party on the runway for the Spring/Summer 2012 show. We absolutely loved the flirty and flowy dresses with bustier tops. In addition, sunglasses enhanced that 50’s flare with their cool retro frames. Our favorite pieces were: opening see-through yellow gown, pajama looking dark green digitally printed cropped pants and sleeveless top with a bright pink vertical stripe and closing pink bubble dress. Oh, and we cannot forget the prints! Calla is known for creating the prints herself and they do rock: kind of distressed and modern to give the vintage looking collection a contemporary feel!
